Vang Vieng Travel Guide & Things To Do

‍Nam Xay Viewpoint

Highlight : Two motorcycles, Panoramic view, Sunset

The most well-known viewpoint in any Vang Vieng travel guide. Most of the travelers choose to climb Nam Xay viewpoint if no others. There are two motorcycles on top, the trek was quite steep on the last few meter before you reach the top (so please beware if you were to stay after the sunset)

The highest peak is around 380m with 350m in distance that took me around 30mins hike to reach 360o viewpoint on top

Tips: Entrance Fee 10k KIP, Open Daily 06.00-17.00

Silver Cliff Viewpoint

Highlight : One motorcycle, Balloon landing, Sunset

‍I hiked to see the sunset at Silver Cliff Viewpoint, a little more higher than Nam Xay that took me around 40mins to reach the top. A nice panoramic view with one motorcycle as the highlight, a mountain range standing in front is where the sun will set

You can expect to see hot air balloon floating above Vang Vieng town on the first resting point, bring one or two drinks to enjoy the balloon landing at the top of the mountain while the sun start to disappear

Tips: Entrance Fee 10k KIP, Open Daily 06.00-17.00

Pha Ngern Viewpoint Top

Highlight : One Buggy, Panoramic view, The highest mountain in Vang Vieng

‍I kept the hardest to the last. There is a Buggy car on the lower viewpoint (most people only visit there – to be fair, the lower viewpoint is beautiful enough). But for more challenging, as our life deserve to be. I decided to climb further to the Top Viewpoint

The highest peak is around 750m (exit the lower viewpoint and you will see red arrow point to the path ahead – use Maps.Me to navigate). The view was worth the effort and the feeling you got when you reached the top of the mountain was so good

I went on a hike alone since my Korean friends already took off to Luang Prabang before me (I was really scare – more of snake than any others and actually found one on the way down! scare me to death) The path was not well clear and the platform was not quite 100% in condition – so please be careful

There are total 6 points to play, admiring Vang Vieng view and one sling down from the tree as the finished. It was raining the night before until late morning while we’re ziplining in the jungle, so we basically zipline in the rain! It was fun, I would highly recommend to those adventure seekers
