3. Baan Dam Museum (Black House)

Achan Thawan Duchanee, the national artist in Fine Art – Visual Art. Privately own and built Baan Dam Museum (พิพิธภัณฑ์บ้านดำ) or The Black House of Chiang Rai

The place consist of more than 40 buildings in the area over 100Rai, contain the collections of artworks – painting, sculpture and carved wood in Lanna style that showcase his crafted and believe. Baan Dam is one of the unmissable place in Chiang Rai, it well worth a couple hours of your time to appreciate art pieces and Thawan’s creations

4. Choui Fong Tea Plantation

A family-owned business focus on delivering the highest quality tea to the market, Choui Fong Tea Plantation (ไร่ชาฉุยฟง) was planted in the highland of area more than 1,200 Rai.

Choui Fong Tea Cafe is situated on top of the hill offer a breathtaking and endless view of tea plantation, serving drinks and baked goods that made from tea (Green Tea was so rich in taste and aroma). The product sale also included Green Tea, Oolong Tea, Black Tea, Blended Tea, Soap, Skin Care, Souvenir and other accessories

5. Singha Park

The biggest Argotourism in Thailand with the area more than 800Rai. The place has many attractions from Singha Park Farm Tour, Buddha Image Pavilion, Tea Plantation View Point, Restaurants, Camping, Winter Festival Event, and adventure activities

We went to cycling around Singha Park Chiang Rai (สิงห์ปาร์คเชียงราย) total distance of 8km that took us around one hour to complete. The place is huge and the view was absolutely stunning! (It’s all outdoor activities – Best time to visit is early in the morning or late in the afternoon)

Take the road No.1 and 118 – Drive 70km from Chiang Rai city centre (that will take around 1.5hrs). From highway to the mountain road is a narrow concrete road, steep slope and sharp turn in some sections

7. Doi Pha Mi

A small village on the border of Thailand and Myanmar, Doi Pha Mi (ดอยผาหมี) is a home of hill tribe minority group named Akha. The road to Doi Pha Mi is a small mountain road, driving through the village on the hill side. There was a slope and sharp turns that you need to be extra careful

Doi Pha Mi has a lot of cafes and homestays own by locals that most located on the hill side offer a nice Mountain View. We went to have lunch at ‘Life Museum’ near Pha Mi viewpoint, a stunning view overlook a range of mountain in front. The place is famous among locals so it can be crowded during high season especially in winter and on the weekends

8. Doi Sa Ngo

Known as Doi Chang Ngu (ดอยช้างงู) offer a view overlook ‘The Golden Triangle’ of Southeast Asia where border of 3 countries meet (Thailand – Laos – Myanmar). There is accommodation available on the hill from homestay to campsite

Tips: Booking in advance is highly recommended especially in high season, especially in winter and holidays

Tips: The mountain road from the highway was a rough terrain with high slope (suitable for truck 4×4), it’s better to use local transfer service
